NAYIKA       CLASSES Current classes are conducted at these venues: Redfern Community Centre University of Sydney, Short Courses Program. The dance style taught is Kuchipudi, a classical style of the Telugu-speaking people of South India. The style differs from the dominant South Indian dance style of Bharata Natyam by its torso movements, greater extent and variation of footwork, fluid hand gestures and more expansive spatial movements. Like other classical South Indian dance styles, Kuchipudi has hand gesture language from the Natya Shastra (a text on dance) and draws on the rich Indian myths for its content. Kate Levy - Student
